A resident species usually occurring sparingly or fairly commonly at mv light. Occasionally common on the Downs to the west of Lewes. Patchily distributed on the chalk, and in the far west of the county. Scarce elsewhere. Normally single-brooded flying from mid May to late August. Larvae feed on traveller's joy. (Pratt, 2011)
