A resident species, usually occurring singly or sparingly but sometimes fairly common to common at mv light amongst deciduous woodland. Widespread and possibly generally distributed, but extremely local and very irregular in any numbers. Single-brooded, flying from mid-September to late November, with survivors reappearing from mid-March to early June. Larvae feed on oak, ash, apple and sallow. (Pratt, 2011)
