An immigrant that normally occurs singly in a wide range of habitats, but it is occasionally seen sparingly or even fairly commonly, especially near the coast. Now regular in appearance, and only recently completely undetected in the county in 1970, 1972, 1985 and 1991. Increasing. Adults are generally encountered between mid May and late November, although they occasionally appear from the third week of April or to early December. Also noted on March 21st 1990 at Walberton (Arundel). The larval foodplant is not known in the wild, although a variety of garden weeds are utilized in captivity. (Pratt, 2011)
