A resident that often occurs sparingly or fairly commonly in a wide range of habitats, but it is occasionally common on the downs and vegetated shingle beaches. Widespread, and probably generally distributed in large areas, but in serious decline in central districst. very local in high numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from the second week of July to the third week of August, occasionally from early June and sometimes to late August. Larvae feed on Clovers, Vetches and similar plants. (Pratt, 2011)
