A resident that generally occurs singly or sparingly but it is occasionally fairly common in woods and on heathland. Thinly distributed, but retreating from the south. Very local and irregular in appearance. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late June to early August, occasionally from mid June or to the third week of August. Larvae feed on Dandelion and Knotgrass in other counties. (Pratt, 2011)
