Resident. Occurs sparingly at light in a wide range of habitats, but is sometimes fairly common in deciduous woodland and other bushy places in the south, never detected in northern Sussex. Distinctly episodic in appearance. Single-brooded, flying mainly from the second week of June to the third week of August. Larvae feed on sloe. (Pratt, 2011).
