Resident. Occurs sparingly at light in a wide range of habitats, but is sometimes fairly common in deciduous woodland. Probably generally distributed, but local in any numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late June to the second week of September. Larval foodplant has yet to be confirmed in Sussex, but hawthorn and rowan have been listed elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011).
